BenQ EX3200R 31.5in VA 144 Hz monitor

BenQ EX3200R 31.5in VA 144 Hz monitor

BenQ is to offer a curved monitor dubbed EX3200R.  The 31.5-inch monitor has been fitted with a 144 Hz VA panel. Mind boggline though, this is a Full HD 1920x1080 screen, it however is marketed as movie playback monitor.

The VA (Vertical Alignment) panel has a 1800R curvature and comes with a 3000:1 static contrast, 178° horizontal and vertical viewing angles claimed. The 144Hz refresh rate is 45 – 144Hz variable for Adaptive-Sync and FreeSync. The monitor is being marketed as ‘entertainment monitor’ and specifically offers support for 24P, 25P and 30P. With Video Format Support (1080/24P, 25P, 30P Playback Support), videos can be displayed at the correct cadence, without the need for pulldowns which distort playback of the source video.

"Video enjoyment has never been better. Treat your eyes to an immersive time with BenQ’s EX3200R, a 31.5 inch Curved Entertainment Monitor. Designed to have a curvature of 1800R to increase your field of view, matched with Cinema Mode and Video Format support, movie enthusiasts can enjoy a more cinematic experience."

  • 31.5 inch, Curved Entertainment LED Monitor with
    1920x 1080 Resolution
  • 1800R Curvature for an Immersive Viewing Experience
  • Cinema Mode, Video Format Support (1080 / 24P, 25P, 30P Playback Support)
  • 144Hz High Refresh Rate, 3000:1 High Contrast VA Panel
  • Flicker-free / Low Blue Light

It has a  4ms grey to grey response time is specified and true 8-bit colour supported. Color Vibrance options are also present, which is much like a monitor hardware alternative to Nvidia ‘Digital Vibrance’ control. This pulls shades closer to the edge of the gamut for increased shade range but decreased shade variety. The included stand offers 60mm (2.36 inches) of height adjustment and can be removed to make way for an alternative 100 x 100mm stand or mount. The ports on the monitor include; DP 1.2a and Mini DP 1.2a (both support Adaptive-Sync), HDMI 1.4 and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Pricing and availibility are TBA.

Nice screen, but IMO way too big for 1080p. I had 27 inch 1080p back in the day, and that felt too large for that resolution.

Prolly that's why it's labeled a movie monitor.
