Battlefield 2042 players are fleeing the game in large numbers. Leaving aside the technical concerns, Battlefield 2042 was a big hit when it first came out, ranking among the top five most played titles on Steam and something similar on Xbox Live at the time of its release.

Currently, more than 70% of the game's active users have left the game in the first ten days after its launch. According to Steam DB, Battlefield's peak concurrent player count for the preceding 24 hours was 24,430, a decrease from the game's launch day peak of 105,397 concurrent players. The loss of players following a game's launch is fairly common for most games, but the rate at which this has occurred is cause for alarm in this case. Because Battlefield 2042 is also available on Origin and the Epic Games Store, those figures are based only on Steam sales. Because there is no player count for the other services, we can't say for certain if the situation is the same on these platforms as it is on others. However, we already know that Steam is the platform that handles the most traffic, so the stats on these platforms should not be particularly impressive.

However, according to True Achievements, only 43 percent of Xbox gamers were able to reach level 15, which is a fairly regular growth milestone that can be readily attained in a few days of game play time. Only 22 percent of participants were able to achieve level 25, according to the results. On PlayStation, things are a little better, with 36 percent of players earning the Tier 25 Trophy.

As a result, several players have complained that public games are more crowded with AI bots than they are used to, even when crossplay is permitted. DICE has committed to releasing a patch for the game in early December, which will be the most significant update to date.
