ASUS TUF Gaming Gets its own Router series, meet the TUF-AX3000

ASUS announced a TUF GAMING series Wi-Fi 6 compatible router dubbed the "TUF-AX3000", it will become available this month in May. This is an AX (WIFI6) compatible router.

The product was already announced back in February but now sees its final launch. The router looks rather familiar with its black body, accented by the yellow color, which is the theme color of the TUF series, the exterior features 4 external antennas. The CPU powering the router is a Broadcom 6750 (1.5GHz / triple core) with 256MB flash and 512MB RMA. The maximum transfer rate is IEEE802.11ax (up to 2402Mbps / 5GHz), IEEE802.11ax (574Mbps / 2.4GHz), IEEE802.11ac (up to 867Mbps), IEEE802.11n (up to 300Mbps), IEEE802.11a / g (up to 54Mbps), IEEE 802.11b (up to 11Mbps).

The Ethernet interface is equipped with WANx1, LANx4, USB3.1 Gen.1 x 1. Of these, the gaming LAN port that stabilizes gaming with a wired connection specializes in connecting console games such as PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch, and can process gaming packets preferentially (packet prioritization). The external dimensions are 265x189x177mm and the weight is 675g. Pricing seems to level out at roughly 179 USD.

This is the ROG version of the AX58U

Wait, no its not, this is a new shell entirely, its got the same insides as the AX58U and 3000 though.

Asus, this needs to stop.
You aren't even going to software differentiate this from the other 2, its purely a cosmetic difference.

And yet if it's without the lame RGB at a cheaper price point then it is worth an interesting look.

Check their Zen lineup.
Bought a CT8 set some months ago, fast and stable compared to my old RT-AC3200 + RP-AC68U setup, although WiFi 6 is only used for the backlink between the two routers, without setting one up for a mesh it can be used for clients too.
Plus that CT8 looks sleek and has better coverage than the RT-AC3200, so those external antennas don't really add anything, might with some better aftermarked ones if one can find some that are compatible.
TUF and ROG are probably not much better, friend of mine had to disable one of the 5GHz bands to make his Rapture run stable.
A Zen XT8 mesh setup covers WiFi 6 for both backlink as clients, but costs more too.

Thanks for making me aware of this. Looking at the price it's nearly much as much getting the external antenna router. I'll be moving homes at some point this year when the national pandemic dies down, pun not intended. May not have enough space to warrant a mesh network but it's good to know that these exist.
