ASUS has recently presented the RTX 4070 Megalodon, an Ada GPU of high performance, introducing an alternative to traditional power requirements.

Distinguished from its contemporaries, this GPU uses a unique concealed PCI slot, eliminating reliance on power cables or adapters. This novel approach provides a safer option while mitigating concerns raised about the 600W 12VHPWR connector, which previously drew criticism. It's important to clarify that the connector used by the RTX 4070 Megalodon is specific to this particular GPU and motherboard pair and does not signify a universally accepted standard or any indication of other corporations adopting this methodology. However, such innovative ideas could potentially influence engineers from major VGA vendors, leading to proposals for analogous power delivery systems as a universal standard in the future.

While ASUS has an influential position as the foremost motherboard manufacturer, promoting wide acceptance for this inventive connector would necessitate significant persuasion. NVIDIA, which recently launched the new 12VHPWR connector (supporting up to 600W) in their RTX 40 GPUs, might be least likely to embrace novel power delivery ideas currently. Still, broad acceptance of this connector might resolve a host of challenges, such as cable management and providing more robust support for the progressively heavier GPUs. During the demonstration, it was noted that the PC maintained VGA support
