Apple has unveiled the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, both featuring aerospace-grade titanium construction, combining strength with lightness for the lightest Pro models in Apple's history.

These new models introduce a refined design with contoured edges and a customizable Action button, allowing users to personalize their iPhone experience.

The camera system receives significant upgrades, enabling the equivalent of seven professional lenses. It boasts a more advanced 48MP Main camera with support for a new super-high-resolution 24MP default. This upgrade enhances portrait photography with improved Focus and Depth Control, Night mode, and Smart HDR. Additionally, the iPhone 15 Pro Max debuts a 5x Telephoto camera, exclusive to this model.

The A17 Pro chip powers these devices, delivering next-level gaming experiences and professional-grade performance. The inclusion of a supercharged USB‑C connector with USB 3 speeds, up to 20 times faster than USB 2, enhances productivity and workflows. Furthermore, Roadside Assistance via satellite extends Apple's satellite infrastructure to provide aid to users in remote areas when they encounter car trouble.

The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max come in four finishes: black titanium, white titanium, blue titanium, and natural titanium. Pre-orders start on Friday, September 15, with availability commencing on Friday, September 22.

Greg Joswiak, Apple's senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, describes these models as the most professional lineup to date, highlighting their state-of-the-art titanium design, exceptional camera system, and the powerful A17 Pro chip.

These devices feature a strong yet lightweight titanium design, a first for iPhones, with a brushed texture, contoured edges, and ultra-thin borders. The titanium bands encase a substructure made from 100 percent recycled aluminum, enhancing structural integrity and thermal dissipation. The Super Retina XDR display with Always-On and ProMotion technologies offers an exceptional viewing experience.

The Action button replaces the single-function switch and provides various functions, including camera and flashlight access. It includes a press-and-hold gesture with haptic feedback.

A17 Pro, the industry's first 3-nanometer chip, powers the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, boasting significant improvements in CPU, GPU, and Neural Engine performance. Hardware-accelerated ray tracing enhances graphics, delivering immersive gaming experiences.

The camera system integrates hardware and software, offering a 48MP Main camera with flexible focal lengths, 3x Telephoto camera, and a 5x Telephoto camera on the iPhone 15 Pro Max. Enhanced Night mode and Smart HDR improve low-light photography and dynamic range. Computational photography allows for portrait shots without switching to Portrait mode.

These devices introduce a range of features, including Night mode portraits, thanks to the LiDAR scanner, and Smart HDR rendering available to third-party apps. High-quality video recording benefits from A17 Pro's capabilities.

Improved connectivity includes USB 3 speeds, Ultra Wideband for extended range, Wi-Fi 6E, and support for MagSafe and Qi2 wireless charging. Enhanced audio quality and eSIM support from numerous carriers are also included.

Safety features like Crash Detection and Emergency SOS via satellite are part of the iPhone 15 lineup. Roadside Assistance via satellite is introduced, providing help when cellular and Wi-Fi coverage is unavailable.

iOS 17 brings new features to these devices, including Contact Posters in the Phone app, enhanced Messages, and innovative ways to use AirDrop. Safari offers improved Private Browsing protection and profiles for separate browsing experiences.

Apple places a strong emphasis on environmental responsibility, incorporating recycled materials and clean energy initiatives into the design of the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. The packaging is fiber-based, reducing plastic usage, and leather is no longer used in Apple products. Instead, they offer eco-friendly alternatives.

Pricing for the iPhone 15 Pro starts at $999, and the iPhone 15 Pro Max starts at $1,199, with various storage capacities available. Trade-in options are offered, and pre-orders begin on September 15 in several countries, with availability starting on September 22.

iOS 17 will be available as a free software update on September 18, and iCloud+ introduces new storage plans for users with larger data needs. Additionally, purchasers of the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max receive three free months of Apple Arcade and Apple Fitness+.
