AOC reveals U2868PQU - 28-inch Ultra HD 4K screen for 649 EUR

AOC will launch the u2868Pqu, a 4K LCD display with a suggested pricing of 649 EUR. The monitor uses a TN panel with 3860x2160 pixel resolution. It accepts 60 Hz signals using DisplayPort, says AOC. It will be marketed as a gaming monitor and AOC boasts a 1ms (g2g) response time. It can also be connected to a PC via VGA, DVI and HDMI 1.4, but you cannot feed it with a 60 Hz 4K signal through these inputs.

The base offers height, tilt, swivel and pivot adjustments and the matte black design should fit nicely on a typical office desk. Additional ports include a headphone jack and a 4-port USB hub (two USB 3.0 connectors). It also features integrated speakers. The AOC U2868Pqu is currently listed for approximately 650 EUR / £499 UK pounds and $775 dollars at several retailers.

TN gets a bad rap these days, but this panel looks quite impressive. It looks like it's not wide-gamut, though, which doesn't matter much if you're only using it for gaming.

It will matter when your head moves an inch and the colours go from 50% wrong to 100% wrong and the brightness gets cut to 1/20th of what it was.

:heh: So true. My 24" Samsung (T240) didn't even have a sweet spot.

Early adopter problems still. Either pay a premium, or get weak panel. For now a 27" 2560x1440 IPS at the same price point is the way to go.

Does any game out there support that resolution?
And what do you need to run heavy games?
4-SLI?
i think it's pointless for gaming at the moment
