AMD Volcanic Island, Crystal Mobile GPU, Mullins, Beema

Props go out to our forum user Lane for spotting this one. Appaerntly in an online course seminar listing AMD has highlighted some topics, some information coming from the AMD Training Center of Taipei seems confirm a launch around October for Volcanic Island and point to some information about next products names. Check more after the break.

And have a peek at the screenshot:

If Hawaii/VI is around Oct then it is most probably still 28nm. That means a max of 2304 or 2560 core, as any more would result in a more bigger die. It will compete with Titan but might come up slightly short. i.e if the architecture remains same (GCN). If it is tweaked as well who knows it might even outperform titan as well. It will be interesting to see power consumption as well. But if bonaire (7790) was a clue then it means AMD were able to tweak/reduce the power consumption significantly so Hawaii might consume around the same as 7970 or may be even less.

Off to get some salt... :D

Wait wait wait...Beema and Mullins processor overview?

Are we talking desktop CPU's or Steamroller etc are the ones for desktop only?

Or Beema and Mullins will be overviewed from a engineering point of view meaning, still on paper.

I think 2304core GCN1 will compete with full GK110 (titan), 2560core GCN1 or GCN2 would eat it.

That rumor with 4096core GCN2 is literally Nvidia Maxwell answer (Q2 2014), I would personally like to see this 4096 beast.

and then a newcomer titan ultra would eat it again.
