AMD Specs of Ryzen 2000G "Raven Ridge" APUs Revealed

by Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 01/22/2018 11:28 AM | source: | 22 comment(s)
AMD Specs of Ryzen 2000G

AMD has announced the specifications of two of these APU's: the Ryzen 3 2200G and the Ryzen 5 2400G series. What is interesting to see straight of the bat is that default memory speeds have been bumped upwards to up to 2933 MHz.

Since the APUs graphics engine makes use of that DDR4 memory, this is a clever move, reports computer base. As all AM4 platforms are currently being prepared with Raven Ridge BIOS updates and thus the Ryzen 2000 CPUs as well, the upcoming new processors would launch alongside new X470 motherboards. The motherboard manufacturers claim support speeds of up to 4000 MHz.

The table below gives an overview of the currently known data about the Raven Ridge processors. The 2400G and 2200G are desktop processors, the others are mobile variants.

The released details also confirm that all desktop models will compete with configurable TDP from 45 to 65 watts, and would get bundled with an AMD Wraith Stealth cooler.

I'm interested to see how well these perform and OC. Considering one for my backup rig to replace the Kaveri chip I presently have. Dual GFX with a dedicated card would be cool, too.

Really nice budget gaming indeed until we remember DDR4 prices are insane...... T_T

Seems the 2400G ought be able to play last-gen console games at 1080p consistently at 60FPS with stock clocks. I'm sure it can play well-ported current-gen games at 1080p @ 30FPS. For the cost and wattage of that chip, that's honestly pretty good.

2400G, the shader count on that one seems really really odd, 704, would have expected 768 shaders.
