AMD Removes Six 1st gen Ryzen Procs from Lineup

AMD Removes Six 1st gen Ryzen Procs from Lineup

Chances are pretty good that you've might have read our Ryzen Gen2 reviews last week?, the new 2nd generation Ryzen 2600X and 2700X (Pinnacle Ridge) have been received well. Alongside the new processors, some older ones also get phased out; in the industry, we call that EOL, end of life.

When looking at the price listing of AMD Ryzen, you'll notice that AMD (for now) introduced two new desktop CPUs, however, will be going EOL with six 1st generation processors as they stopped listing several SKUs. Currently, if you look at the AMD listing, six processors have disappeared. The processors, presumably going EOL, are the Ryzen 7 series with 1700, 1700X and 1800X, for the Ryzen 5 series the 1600X and 1400, and for the Ryzen 3 series you can see that the 1200 now is missing.

Alongside the new 2nd Generation procs, the Ryzen 5 1600 and 1500X, and Ryzen 3 1300X still are listed for sales. The rest of the processors have been removed from AMD's listings, but are still available in the shops, likely until stock runs out.

And there goes the 1700X Flash Sale for 249 bucks WITH AMD wraith spire cooler (not included in box with 1600X, 1700X and 1800X). Pretty good deal.

Does this also mean board makers will stop updating software and bios for 1st Gen?..

Good ! that means my chances of RMAing my 1700x to AMD and if their stock of 1700x is zero i will get a 2700x back have increased by a lot :D ...
Guys this is no biggie , this cpus will still be supported and giving Bios updates and optimizations , it only means they are not making Ryzen 1xxx CPUs anymore :)

Should I just buy a 2200G then? It's the same price that I've been waiting the 5 1600 to fall back to, but seeing as they won't manufacture any more of those the price won't change anymore. I assume the 2200G will become gradually more expensive as well, is that a correct assumption?

I'm afraid if I don't buy one right now I'll lose the decent price like I did with the 1600. (Over 50% increase overall in the price since when I started waiting for a sale lmao)
