AMD's next-generation Ryzen 7000 "Raphael" desktop platform will be available in September. AMD expects to sell all of its current desktop CPUs before the start of the school year, before introducing all-new CPUs this fall.

It was previously already rumored that AMD's Zen 4-based Ryzen 7000-series CPUs would be available on September 15. Now that DigiTimes reports that the CPUs would be available in the middle of September, citing motherboard manufacturers, we may conclude that the information originates from two sources.

Raphael CPUs are built on the brand-new Zen 4 architecture and will support a number of new technologies, including DDR5 memory and the PCIe 5.0 interface. This necessitates the use of new AMD 600-series systems with the AM5 socket. The new CPU die is constructed using TSMC's N5 manufacturing technology. Although there isn't much room for CPU overclocking, the new method will enable very high clocks and larger caches. AMD had previously demonstrated a 16-core CPU with a boost frequency of 5.5 GHz. The new I/O die is manufactured at TSMC's N6 node (which will cut down its power consumption). ASMedia, a chipset partner, has begun mass manufacturing of the B650 chipsets, which are also used in the X670 and X670E. Because of the new am5 socket, each processor requires a new motherboard.

AMD has only stated that the chips will be available in the fall.
