Following a recent Twitter interaction, Bill Murphy, the GTM Manager for ISV at AMD, has issued a warning about potential counterfeit promotions and giveaways related to Starfield-themed hardware components.

In his response to a post by Indie Kings, Murphy highlighted the need for vigilance when encountering offers related to custom Starfield GPUs, as their legitimacy might be questionable.

Murphy specifically noted that Indie Kings isn't affiliated with either AMD or Bethesda as an official partner. This raises concerns about the authenticity of Indie Kings' claims of having such GPUs available for giveaways. Such incidents draw attention to the increasing trend of dubious practices that aim to gather user data by advertising giveaways for non-existent products.

Earlier in the month, AMD announced its intention to produce 500 units of Starfield-themed Ryzen 7800X3D CPUs and Radeon 7900 XTX GPUs. These components were said to be available solely through promotional events and giveaways. The first of such distributions occurred at Bethesda's QuakeCon event where these distinctive components were displayed.

The unique Starfield design on both the Ryzen and Radeon items has made them desirable among collectors. Bethesda's design team's expertise shines through, especially in the design of the Radeon RX 7900 XYX. The CPU packaging contributes to its appeal, while the GPU's design is accentuated when viewed through the standard tempered glass PC side panel, which also offers protection.

Individuals interested in obtaining these limited-edition components by AMD and Bethesda should primarily focus on official and verified channels associated with these brands and their approved partners.

Additionally, an eBay listing has been spotted, offering a bundle of the Starfield-themed Ryzen 7800X3D CPU and Radeon 7900 XTX GPU. The listing, which has reached a bid of $3,285 with over six days left, claims that auction proceeds will go to charity. However, individuals are advised to approach such listings with caution and carefully examine the seller's credibility and past reviews.
