AMD Announces Radeon RX 5500 series Navi 14 - available next month

AMD today introduces its Radeon RX 5500 series for mobile and desktop markets. First off, AMD did not ship out any samples for review, and AIB availability is expected no sooner than next month or at least Q4.

The RX 5500 series, based on a 158 mm 2 measuring Navi 14-GPU, is the first low to a mainstream range that actually offers GDDR6 memory (at a 128 bits wide bus). Several SKUs will become available with varying memory volumes up-to 8GB. At 14 Gbps the maximum theoretical bandwidth is 224 GB/s. The NAVI architecture based GPU will get 1408 shader processors with a game clock just over 1700 MHz and a possible boost to 1845 MHz. AMD continuously has been comparing the product towards Polaris, as it should offer the roughly same performance of say an RX 570. All SKUs including the mobile part will get 22 Compute Units and this has that 1408 Shader Processors, which includes the mobile version. AMD indicates a Q4 availability, we expect AIB board by next month though.

Man if this is priced right this could be the next mid ranger. Wonder how well it will overclock, the RX 480 was a beast in that aspect.

So many photos of pretty much the same angle, but, it is good knowing that this is Navi based, since that should substantially help with efficiency. I'd like to see the power connector (if there even is one). I'm trying to build a custom AIO gaming PC for a friend, and something like this could be a decent choice. Most other AMD GPUs are either too power-hungry, too big, or too slow to even consider, up until now.

I'm curious if there will be one without a 6/8pin which you could undervolt and run fanless, wet dream of mine.
