A lot has been said and spoken about the pending AMD AGESA BIOS update that supposedly will fix some single-core boost functionality, towards and above-advertised specs. Among the motherboard manufacturers, the BIOS is being tested, and as expected they leak out. First tests look promising.
AGESA based on 1.0.0.3ABBA is delivered to the motherboard manufacturers to do their thing with and apparently an MSI BIOOS got leaked somehow towards Asia based ChipHell. Tom's grabbed the BIOS and took it for a spin on a MEG X570 Creator. The Ryzen 9 3900X and Ryzen 7 3700X have been tested. The article is a short one, but it looks like that with AGESA 1.0.0.3ABBA the 3700X was matching 4.40 GHz whereas they reached 4.375 with the older 1.0.0.3AB firmware. Ryzen 9 3900X was behaving nicely, with a single-core boost to 4.625 GHz coming from 4.575 GHz. Which is 25 Mhz higher than the advertised turbo. The new firmware is mentioned to change thermals a bit as well.
In the end, though, the performance duifferenced fall within a margin of error / offset at best.
