All hail the 13TB SSD
OK, I know we just mentioned 10TB HDDs, but how about this one, Fixstars is releasing a 13TB SSD. Now before you run to the stores, this is enterprise class stuff and the firm will not even share the price, albeit it is hinted to be just 13.000 US dollars.
The product tagged with product name SSD-13000M is a SATA600-ssd will get a slim 2.5" form factor and will reach read and write speeds at 580 and 520 MB/s respectively.
Fixstars will use new 15nm NAND mlc memory (Toshiba is on 15nm so we assume they offer the NAND Flash ICs) , likely vertical stacked. The unit will get a 3 year warranty at roughly 1 USD per GB. The 13TB drive will be sold directly by Fixstars and won't be available through online retail stores or sites.
Fixstars also announced a SSD-10000M, a 10TB drive.

Prolly depends on the SSD and mechanical HDD... But SSD's are still quite new, need to cover R&D costs, firmware updates, think about logistic costs, marketing, sale volumes, assebly time, warranty, support, how much people are willing to pay...
Having worked at one companys R&D writing code, you cant just say something should cost less than something else based on component costs alone.

This thing is expensive and slow. Would be better to build SSD raid or even better to get raid made from PCIe/M.2.
But I guess it has its use somewhere.
