MSI Afterburner 2.2.0 Beta 2 (2011-03-29)

Download 370 Published by Hilbert Hagedoorn 0

We're happy to see MSI Afterburner is leading the overclock applications. MSI Afterburner 2.2.0 Beta 2 is ready, changes list includes:

  • Updated Italian and Dutch localizations
  • Updated MSI On-Screen Display server:
  • Improved bitrate calculation in AVI file headers
  • Fixed issue causing corrupted audio recording on certain combinations of audio sampling rates and video framerates (e.g. 48000Hz audio and 45 FPS video)
  • Improved audio stream start implementation. Initial silence audio frames are now being physically stored in AVI file instead of defining non-zero audio stream start in AVI file header for better compatibility with some AVI editing tools
  • Improved audio and video streams synchronization under Windows Vista and newer operating systems. Long periods of audio silence are no longer causing audio and video streams to run out of sync
  • Now the server is waiting for 3 seconds before actually starting desktop video capture after switching Aero Glass interface off to avoid seeing interface switching progress on resulting video
  • Fixed issue causing desktop video capture requests to be ignored after single desktop video capture session under certain conditions

To enable unofficial overclocking in this version it is necessary to:

  • Set UnofficialOverclockingEULA field to the following text: I confirm that I am aware of unofficial overclocking limitations and fully understand that MSI will not provide me any support on it
  • Set UnofficialOverclockingMode to 1 to keep PowerPlay active (may not work on old ASICs), 2 to traditionally disable PowerPlay or to 0 to temporary disable unofficial overclocking path

Corsair SP2500 speaker review

Graphics Cards 1673 Published by Hilbert Hagedoorn 0

Armed with a phat sub, two satellite speakers and a very dandy LCD control DSP unit we'll today have a look at that Corsair Gaming Audio SP2500 speaker kit. It definitely surprised us away in terms of audio quality.

It is an easy to use and easy to setup kit. The control pod / DSP is the cherry on top of the cake. The speaker audio quality really is extremely good with much clarity, great mid tones and a deep, although not perfect bass provided by the subwoofer. In pale comparison to you average desktop speaker kit, this set is a mile and half away in terms of better quality and sheer capacity.

Danger Den released a waterblock for the GTX 590, dubbed the DD-GTX590.

The full-coverage block is made using a copper base and a smoked acrylic top and should be compatible with all the GTX 590 models that follow Nvidia's reference printed circuit board (PCB) layout. The waterblock is designed so that it would cover not only the two GF110 GPUs, but also the memory, VRM and I/O chips and should provide additional stiffness to the card as it packs some specially designed PCB contact pads.

Pricing has been established at $119.95 and the DD-GTX590 is currently in stock on the company's website.

Koolance Water-Block for Radeon HD 6990

Graphics Cards 1673 Published by Hilbert Hagedoorn 0

Water cooling expert Koolance releases its full-coverage water-block for the dual-GPU AMD Radeon HD 6990 graphics card, which was launched a little earlier this month reports tpu.

The VID-AR699 from Koolance covers the obverse side of the PCB, cooling critical components there, including the two AMD Cayman GPUs, memory chips, the 450W-capable VRM, and the PEG bridge chip. Internally, the block is partitioned into three distinct bases, one over each GPU, and one over the VRM. The portions over the GPUs feature ribbed micro-fin structures to improve heat dissipation. The three bases are conjoined by a middle-plate that channels coolant through the three bases. The block is then topped off with acetal.

The VID-AR699 measures 10.1" x 4.8 " x 0.8" (25.7cm x 12.2cm x 2cm), and weighs 2.25 pounds (1kg). Its primary material is copper with nickel-plating that minimizes corrosion over time. Its nozzle threading is standard G 1/4 BSP, though the package doesn't include nozzles. Koolance is pricing it at US $159.99 on its online store, it will be taking orders and shipping only after the 28th of this month. In related news, Koolance also announced that it's working on a full-coverage water block for the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 590, the VID-NX590, though there are no specifications or photos out, yet.

AMD challenges NVIDIA to prove that the GeForce GTX 590 is the fastest

Graphics Cards 1673 Published by Hilbert Hagedoorn 0

Aaah, the ongoing mud-fight.  NVIDIA proclaimed its GeForce GTX 590 as world's fastest graphics card, even though reviews showed that the card can't clearly beat AMD's Radeon HD 6990. Therefore, AMD challenges NVIDIA to prove that the GeForce GTX 590 really is world's best-performing graphics card:

"At AMD we pride ourselves on both the excellence of our products, and in the integrity of our messaging. Let me give you a perfect example. Two weeks ago we launched our flagship GPU, the AMD Radeon

Have a peek at the awesomeness that is the Gigabyte GeForce GTX 590, and then head on over to the next page where as always, we'll go a little deeper, but not too deep. We'll look at noise levels, power consumption, heat, we'll do a nice photo-shoot and heck why not... an extensive benchmark session to see where this product positions itself, especially compared to the Radeon HD 6990.

GeForce GTX 590 SLI review

We test SLI performance with four GPUs, that's right we place two GTX 590 graphics cards in SLI. The big question of course remains, will quad-SLI actually kick in properly ? As that is what we are talking about; rendering your games for no less than four GPUs. Bare in mind that for today's article we received a very, no extremely beta driver. Not at all optimized 100% just yet. We will offer you a taste of what's to come and what to expect in the future.
