Moments ago Nvidia announced their GeForce GTX 1060, the new mid-range graphics card is now official. Fairly soon performance reviews will be allowed, today it remains to be just the announcement and thus a paper-launch.
The GeForce GTX 1060 is pretty much what you heard and noticed rumors wise over the past week or two, the card will get 1280 shader processors with a GPU clock of 1,506 Mhz and a Boost frequency towards 1,709 MHz. The GPU used will be a Gp106 tied towards 3GB and 6GB memory configurations at a 192-bit wide memory bus. Nvidia definitely stepped it up as cooling wise we do not see the cheaper plastic designs, the 1060 will receive something similar to the 1070/1080 founder edition coolers as well.
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060
- ASIC: GP106-400-A1 and GP106-300-A1
- 16 nm FinFET process
- 120W TDP
- 1280 CUDA cores, 10 streaming multiprocessors
- 80 TMUs and 48 ROP units
- 192-bit GDDR5 memory interface at an effective 8 Gbps
- 3 GB and 6 GB models
The GeForce GTX 1060 is primarily aimed and targeted at the AMD Radeon RX 480 which launched last week. If you combine the specs you can already tell that the 1060 will be a terrific card in the 1080P domain, and even at monitor resolutions of 2560x1440 this card should hold up really well. The card as such is expected to position itself in the GeForce GTX 980 performance space.

The GeForce GTX 1060 will get a nice 120 Watt TDP and thus only needs one 6-pin PCI-Express power connector. Display outputs wise you'll see plenty of options on the board partner cards, the founders editions will have 3x Display port 1.4, one HDMI 2.0B and one DL-DVI connector. It is confirmed that the card does not support SLI as all cards lack SLI connectors. The AIB cards will start selling July 19th for 249 USD whereas the Nvidia reference founders edition cards will be sold for 299 USD, these prices are all for the 6 GB versions.
We've had the card in-house for a couple of days already, below some extra photos which we shot of the product. As stated, soon you can expect full performance reviews as the embargo on that has not been lifted, today just the announcement.
