PC Watch removed the heatspreader of a Core i7 6700K processor, and yeah 14nm shows a small processor alright. The substrate Intel uses is slimmer than the one on the i7-4770K (0.8 mm versus 1.1 mm). 

The IHS (integrated heatspreader) however is a tiny bit thicker. Intel makes use of viscous silver-based TIM between the die and the IHS. The guys over at PC Watch removed that old goop and replaced it with Prolimatech PK-3 and Cool Laboratory Liquid Pro thermal compound, to no surprize the results are impressive as you will get a serious drops in temperature at both the stock speed (4.00~4.20 GHz) and with an overclock (4.60 GHz).

They shaved off 4 Degrees C on average with PK-3 and with cool laboratory liquid pro .. well see for yourself.  Check out the thumbnails below.
