Gigabyte announced a X170-Extreme ECC Motherboard which is compatible with ECC DDR4 memory. More interesting is of course that with ECC you'll need a Xeon processor, this X170 motherboard is based on the Intel C236 chipset and comes with support for Intel Xeon E3-1200 V5 processors as well as 6th gen Core "Skylake" processors.

We already have received the board for review so if you clock the thumbs you'll spot some exclusive photos. The board thus has four DDR4 DIMM slots compatible with standard and thus ECC memory. It has two PCI-Express 3.0 x16 (x8/x8), a third PCI-Express 3.0 x16 (gen 3.0 x4 from PCH), and three small PCIe 3.0 x1 slots.

There are two 32 Gb/s M.2 slots and eight SATA 6 Gb/s ports plus two gigabit Ethernet interfaces (Intel I219-V controller and one Killer E2400). Both USB 3.1 ports run over the PCH (chipset) with PCI-Express 3.0 x4 that brings a nice 10 Gb/s bandwidth dedicated to each of the ports Also on board is the expensive 40 Gb/s Thunderbolt 3 port, with DisplayPort 1.2 pass-through. Anyway, have a peek at the photos.

Pricing is TBA.
