AMD confirms all RYZEN processors can be overclocked

One more for the weekend. I actually already mentioned this bit of in in one of my earlier posts, but it is now confirmed. AMD will release several RYZEN model CPUs at launch. What wasn't confirmed just yet IF they would be overclockable , e.g. like an unlocked K model Intel processor. This is now confirmed.
All CPUs will be multiplier unlocked, the launch also invokes several models positioned lower then the 8-core flagship (also unlocked). There is obviously a motherboard restriction to be able to overclock, here you will not run into any problems either as the X370-, X300- and B350 chipsets will all support processor tweaking. Only the low-end A320 model chipset will not be overclockable.
AMD also announced that there will be several Ryzen models, models with perhaps 6 cores as well as 4 cores. According to a spokesman "a full range" will assist the launch, however if that is a quad-core model remains unknown for now. Ryzen also will not be a no paper launch, you will see full availability immediately. The latest rumors indicate late February as launch date.

Glad it's now only a matter of a couple of months until the release of Zen CPU's. I don't think I have been so hyped for an AMD CPU since like forever.

My 5820K @ 4.5Ghz system is less than 2 years old, but if 8 Core Ryzen is clock for clock faster than my CPU and overclocks to 5Ghz, ill upgrade to support AMD to show them that if they do good people will follow.
I mean its unnecessary upgrade but it if Ryzen is all they say it is and faster than my Intel, it will last me for at least 5 years unless Intel comes out with something revolutionary.
Also since its going to use DDR4, upgrading will be easy, just new CPU and Mobo, thats it, im sure the cooler holes will be the same like before, so my corsair 110i should work using the included AMD retention, if not im sure they will sale these separately.

Unfortunately this could well mean retailer price gouging & shortages well in to Q2/Q3 2017.

AMD promises are getting in tone with what we want.Just deliver, don't over-hype, don't jinx the prices and tables will be turned.

Think half filled

Its a chance for YOU to make some money if you hurry up and pre-order all as soon as benchmarks are out, if shops limit it to one CPU, than pre-order in every retailer and etailer in your country.

Hi there
You are not alone, right now I'm on same boat, have 5820k OC to 4.5Ghz and if Ryzen delivers performance in rendering then I will upgrade in heartbeat as 5960x or 6900k cost too much for my liking
Regarding the CPU coolers and mounting some companies confirmed they will be selling or will be sending free upgrades for people interested
We will see what performance will bring us Ryzen I just hope we will get good CPU with reasonable performance and good price as Intel still sticking with 4c/8t
Hope this helps
Thanks, Jura

All the Phenom lineup did was increase the core count to 4 while intel released Core2 and won the lead.
Phenom was THE disaster.

6/12 is already reasonable price, it costs a bit less than top of the line 4 core i7.
If AMD sells 8/16 for same price as intels 4/8 i7 than its a win.
