I never understood all the "miner" fuss...generally speaking, that kind of power is great for games and for so-called "deep learning"...nVidia used to brag so much on CUDA--until AMD roared right past them in that department. True it inflates the price of the cards somewhat, but AMD can remedy that by introducing "miner-specific versions" of the cards that don't display like they did for the RX-480/580 series--eventually. I don't think that Crossfire is dying out. If anything, D3d12 has made it easier by hooking it into the API--but it may be awhile before game engines are built with Crossfire/SLI in mind through d3d12. However, multigpu has become less interesting, the more powerful single GPUs become. It's going to get really interesting when crossfire and sli are leveraged for more than simple frame-rates, of course. It will come, imo.
My understanding of low level API's is that both Crossfire and SLI are obsolete. The developer is the one who needs to implement dual or more GPU support. It's now out of Nvidia's and AMD's hands all together.

It certainly feels like forever. Just hope it is worth the wait.

use a uni-block on it and test it under water if possible

One thing is sure. That cooler will make the card throttle like mad.
That why AMD made the Limited Edition for, it's the same cooler as Vega FE which is great. can't wait to get my Limited Edition in the morning at Microcenter. FreeSync + Enchanced Sync = :infinity: Also i7 6700K, stock (4.0ghz) or 4.4ghz for Vega gaming?

Limited edition looks really nice. Love that Aluminium look.

I so want AMD to do well lets hope for 1080ti performance or more the GPU market really needs competition

It won't do 1080ti in most things being bandwidth limited among other things.

Somehow this very plain design looks nice. In my blac and red system this is obviously where one of these babies should be.... Now I just need to convince my wife that I need one of these. Hahaha!

Another high-end card with a tiny fan. :bang: Not that I would get the 64 because it uses a bit too much juice to begin with but I just don't get why the cooler does not get upgraded properly.

Blower coolers are actually very efficient. All of the heat gets blown out the back of the case. The only downside is that they tend to be loud. One thing is does have over the custom versions, is that you can slap a waterblock on it, and its single slot. 🙂 all the custom ones i've seen seem to have a DVI included on the backplate...

it depend on how they have done the card... exemple with NVidia: on paper GTX960 were very limited due to it, but on real life it was far than enough and compression do the job very nicely. We don't know until monday... wait and see.

What a tease AMD is, first ThreadRipper now Vega...Let's hope it's not too late.
Ahh, just what I need for doing cryptocurrency.......Oh wait, I don't do cryptocurrency. LOL
I was about to direct an offensive comment at you, Sr.
2x8 pins connectors is sincerely a killer for me. I want a PC not a Fat PS3 power sucking beast
You can wait for Vega 56 or have Nvidia options today like the 1070/1080.
But reference cards are better for dual gpu setups.
How's that possible? With the blower design the top card will burn hot!

The reference non-limited ed. model looks super-plain, and identical to Fury. I don't care for it at all. The limited ed. looks very cool IMO. Also, cryptocurrency "mining" is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard of. How is this even a thing? I have some serious questions about it-- where do the "encrypted coins" come from, and how does decrypting them make them yours to keep? And why does decryption difficulty increase?

Will there be a Ryzen machine chucked into the results to see if there are any benefits to an all AMD rig or maybe a separate review altogether, I know your a busy bunch but how awesome would it be to be the guys that found it, maybe in after release date drivers and or next agesa update

I really don't like Cryptocurrency. It drives the real economy out of wack, and makes people lazy. No real drive to earn a living. Stuff like that gives tech a bad name. Tech isn't Cryptocurrency. My opinion anyway. 🙂

ha  as for the cooling it should cool well and make you go deaf too we will see tomorrow probley not going to see too much negative reviews if still on the rumored price

In my view they tend to run hot and be very noisy. Exceptions exist but it won't this card. I'd rather go with the 220w card, if I even need it as I'm only looking towards the next installment of Dishonored and that will probably be quite short since it doesn't even have a full price.

Guessing you are new to dual gpu setups. Blower type fans are better because they dump the heat outside the case. Not inside the case. They are louder then most AIB custom cards. I personally dont use blower cooler type gpus when using a single card. The temps of my XFX DD 290s were inside when gaming in crossfire. Both cards were around 83c. When only running 1 290 with crossfire off, it was around 71c. My GTX 970s were around 73c with reference style blower coolers. I had to add an exhaust fan to my case with my R9 Fury because it was dumping so much heat into my case. It went from 78c to 68c without undervolting.

Blower coolers can be good or bad, it really depends on the quality of the components involved. I hate to bring Nvidia into it, but there FE blower coolers are actually pretty decent, AMD's reference blower coolers have not been nearly as good the past several generations in my experience. We shall see how well the new cooler and GPU from AMD fares in HH's review in a few more hours. 🙂 I do like a blower cooler for the bottom GPU in a Crossfire/SLI setup to exhaust as much of the bottom GPU's heat outside the case instead of it rising up into the top GPU. With a blower cooler on the bottom and an AIB cooler on the top I've done well with the last few dual GPU systems I've dealt with.
