i tried linux ((ububtu i know most do not like it ...but has a rather noob friendly gui)) while i was doing most of the tasks just fine .... when i had to use marvelous specific games that will not work at all or as well as i wanted i had to restart to windows again ....and again ended up switching back to linux when i was done less frequent as the time pass cause i could do everything in windows .... i might try again but run linux on a vm or something .... or windows on a vm .... as things are i am just looking for the most bother free experience .... i fix a lot of pc's weekly when i open my pc i just want to chill ...hell cable management i do for other pcs is always done very careful as best as i can ... my own computer ...eeeeeeeeehhh all i can say is ...it works ...:p
Yeah, while I personally solely use Linux for my gaming PC (I only have about 5 games that don't work and I'm in no rush to play them) I do not recommend Linux to gamers who isn't already very familiar with it, particularly in a desktop environment. As I usually say to anyone who goes from one OS to another (doesn't matter which is to/from), if you go into it with the expectation that it will work like the OS you came from, you will have a bad time. Also, once the Steam Deck was released, Linux has improved dramatically for gaming, though there is still a way to go. I've managed to get a lot of older games to work by downloading no-DRM cracks - they're usually just a few MB.

If I had a dollar for every time I heard Photoshop being one of the main reasons for not using Linux as a daily driver, I could buy the whole Adobe Creative Suite. That wasn't a jab at you or anything, it's just one of the #1 issues that dooms Linux from having more desktop users. It is a shame Linux has no real alternative to Photoshop, and no easy way to run the Windows version either. If you're into audio, video, 3D design, writing, etc, you'll have options. At least there's Darktable, which is something hah.

To consider yourself a computer enthusiast you must be interested in reinstalling Windows on a periodical basis. To consider yourself a computer enthusiast you must be interested in reinstalling Windows on a periodical basis.
As the saying goes....If its not broken, my current Win11 install is an upgrade from 10 and has been through 3-4 mobo/cpu changes and still runs fine, not to mention Ive migrated my os 3 times in the process.

[QUOTE Since it is not a sentence to BSODs like in old days I assume quite many. sounds like the typical answer from ppl spending hours on swapping new MB/ram/cpu, but dont have 5min for OS install. my standards are a little higher, especially if a clean install takes me 2 min (usb 3 stick + m.2), and even if its a slower stick and sata, usually not more than 5min. completely ignoring that i can run the install while doing something else, returning to the pc every couple minutes, to check progress/confirm selections etc...

or some of us know our ways around a platform transfer well enough that full reinstalls aren't necessary.

yeah i was surprised running photoshop was not a thing i was thinking someone would had figured it out by now ..... as far i know neither marvelous designer or substance painter do ...substance painter is .... there is no alternative ... best mesh texturing tool ... first time i saw it it made my jaw hit the floor , marvelous is ...well not needed it is 1 trick pony .....cloth simulator ..... you can pretty much make any cloth mesh you want very veeeeeeeeeeeeeeery fast then you export it and you work on that

The install of the windows is not a big deal is fast ..... but with my internet speeds just updating to the latest updates takes a few hours .... then setting the system with all the programs i want plugins and scripts, the install of the windows as clean operating system is nothing.

It's a little weird to me too how it doesn't work after all these years but I know it's not without trying. I'm sure a lot of the problems come down to Adobe's anti-piracy measures (running things through WINE/proton often spooks anti-piracy stuff) and crappy coding practices (all of their software is horribly bloated and poorly optimized). WINE and Proton have reached a point where anything made with standard development practices will "just work", except for products that seem to have tight integration with Windows. As more things work, the easier it will be to focus on the more particular issues like with Photoshop.

Yeah and yes adobe software is bloated and adobe as a company is well one of the favorites for someone to hate one way or another Photoshop is by far the best image processing software sadly .... Also I was reaaaaaally sad when adobe brought substance painter 🙁 used to be stand alone program they discontinued that and now it is under subscription too 🙁
