Why are people surprised by this? Why are people seeing this as a MS problem? It's been pretty clear MS has been trying to be more like Apple since the first Surface showed up (I'm not saying that was the first Apple-like thing they did, I'm saying that's when it became obvious). Ever tried upgrading or fixing an Apple product? Many modern ones are also held together by glue. I'm sure any product competing with this Surface Laptop is going to be built very similarly. If you like the idea of having the thinnest device possible, don't expect any alternatives to be much better than this laptop. Though I understand the needs for ultra-thin laptops, I personally would rather have something beefier with better performance, better battery life, better durability, and better upgradability, all for a better price. I hate having to sacrifice practicality over something so frivolous. Smartphones seem to be the worst offenders of this kind of thing (seriously, I want my phone to be usable - I don't care what it looks like when I'm not touching it).
It's OK when Apple does it because it's Apple apparently.

Yup, and due to how thin it is, it'll contour to the shape of your butt too! And as a result of breaking the lithium ion battery, you will, for a short moment anyway, get a nice warm seat. After that moment, you will be on fire and inhale noxious gasses. But before you die, it is definitely true that it would have made for a surprisingly comfortable laptop to sit on, if not the most comfortable laptop to sit on. Seems like a good selling point, minus the dying part: "if you ever find yourself with this being broken, you can't get it repaired, but it doubles as a good pad to sit on!"

Well, after reading all that, I'm pretty sure, like 100%, that I'm going to die on Earth.

@chillin Being in a need of professional help or not, one thing is of a crucial importance to me: just do not tell me I didn't tell you so. In the time when thick helmets, let alone "tin foil hats", do not give any protection anymore.

Ofcourse, especially when those tumours start coming through. Oh, hang on, that's classified. 🤓

Well, you don't need to break an ipad apart to replace a broken screen, antenna, headphone jack and other internals that aren't directly on the motherboard.

Alcantara is used on steering rims too, bad idea not to use gloves when driving with such a rim.

Poor Microsoft. Can't catch a break. What with the Hype machine of xbox one x 2.3ghz jaguar core isn't going to be pushing 60fps in anything other then a racing game.

What is with this trend of soldered memory? Are laptop makers that desperate to make a profit? 4GB of ram is NOT enough...

They need to start making their consoles gpu´s upgradeable instead of making people to buy the same sytem twice just to get a better graphics chip.

This exists and it's called a PC.

Monchis That's a better idea. A machine that has top quality CPU and everything else built in. Then you decide what rez you want to play in. 1080p - You get a certain GPU that is exactly for that rez. 4k - More power with cost increase. couple of years later. you can pick up the next GPU for the system etc. But others can still play same game but with less rez etc. PrMinisterGR Your correct and is a PC, but PC misses many exclusives titles that are AAA. etc.
