I have upgraded my old LG C400 in 01.15.2018 without removing SLIC 2.1 only using my brain π still people's stay worried about privacy this for me is waste of time lol because is very simple: first I dont use AV for years and never get some malware in any of my rigs so my resolution is: only learn how to configure Windows Firewal & Advanced Windows Firewall blocking a lot of "things" inside there after also disable a lot of "things" in Task Manager user need get attention in first verify what each item make before disable or in another words user need know what are doing and for last open Regedit and also set a lot of "things" inside in HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services with Start=dword:0x00000003 to 0x00000004; although is very dificult for me explain in more details because is very complex and I have fear if some user try make this hard job and resulting in total crash and for last but no less important here in my country old people say: the spell turned against the sorcerer still in another words M$FT make your own poison since times of Windows XP π
Edit:I think that Glasses are very bad or I'm staying blind π

The whole not upgrading to Windows 10 because of privacy reasons is just plain stupid. First of all, Microsoft has billions of customers worldwide. What is so important about you that they need to spend the time and resources to spy on you? Also if any operating system is more secure than another, it's going to be the most current. But to be completely honest, the second you connect any device to the internet you are throwing your privacy out the window regardless of the OS. If these tin foil hat people really want to protect their privacy so much, just stay off the internet all together. They'd be doing a lot of us a favor.

I too don't like Windows 10's telemetry, but I've seen that alot of people that are complaining about it have been using Android phones and Facebook for years without any remorse.
But the thing that Microsoft definitely did bad with Windows 10 was trying to force it on everyone, actually making Windows 7 upgrade to it automatically. That screams "we control your PC" and the telemetry is just adding more fuel to the fire.
The key thing IMO is being transparent with the telemetry. I do let Nvidia's telemetry be active now, but I was pissed back when they included it in the drivers by sneaking it in without a single word and others had to discover it.

I just want an OS that works good and is not annoying.... hence the problem with Windows 10.
Fingers crossed Microsoft make a proper desktop OS in the future.

I wonder more why if folks dislike something, why bother to post? I am not a fan of many things discussed on these forums but it seems a waste of time to just sh!t all over it because I'm not a fan.
You people act like there's some golden OS out there. None are perfect so what exactly is the point?

The group of PC enthusiasts that builds their own PC, is into overclocking, modifies their OS image, buys premium parts.........what % of MS customers is this?
Is it even .001%? I doubt it.
Missing telemetry from this group is meaningless as it:
1. does not represent a realistic user of their product
2. is not a tangible portion of their user base
Why not offer an enthusiast build that is just the OS with the option to add in the OEM stuff as an option instead of by force? I would pay a small premium for a build like that.
Don't get me wrong, I really like Windows 10.......after I modify the image so I have a clean install free from all the clutter I wont ever use. The OS itself has been great to work with, absolutely no issues.

You don't have to play the "privacy card" to show Win10 is a "bad OS".
Imagine the following stuff from a business perspective:
- You are unable to control the updates you get, except you use WSUS, which brings other problems but is unsuitable for most SMBs.
- There were updates which fu**ed up your system to an unbootable state. Not only once, but a few times. The time until an "update fixing update" was made took some time.
- Cortana and some other components send data to M$. Let me introduce you to German Data Protection laws: That is forbidden if you cannot control the data flow. (short one, eh?)
- Windows 10 does only need a simple key press to unlock the lockscreen, no CTRL+ALT+DEL needed. Any key gets accepted => login mask!
- Windows Store is something you do not want to have in a business infrastructure.
- All "apps" are somewhat not needed.
- You are not able to uninstall some default programs (Win10 Pro example: XBox support), even though they are definitely unneeded. You have to find reg hacks or something for that. But that could break your computer, some program you use or something else, because this is unsupported and undocumented. Good luck raising a ticket at M$ for that.
- A nagging Windows Defender which re-enables itself is the worst you could encounter in a production area with CPU/GPU-intense programs running difficult calculations or something where an interruption is critical and could result in the 4-day-crunch-job to be done again.
- Driver release control is another thing to be considered. WU installs the newest driver. We had the case where this lead to a not working LAN card (Realtek). The card was working with the drivers from release control, but were overwritten by WU ones, which kicked two servers out of the net.
So please tell me again why Win10 is the best OS so far. π
Yes, I stick to Win7, even in business (if I can). And no, I do not know what I will do when the ext. support of Win7 ends. But yes, I think there will be an option, because we have two years to go. Remember when Win8 came out. Almost the same, but this time, the support time for Win7 is shorter.
Yes, it does, 80's here. ;-)
But be honest, in the 80's / 90's we didn't have this stress at all: modems were slow as fu**, no "normal user" used the internet because of tremendous prices for a 14k dialup and the cats were ASCII art, so not much joy at this time. OK, with 320x240 pixels porn wasn't online either. "Oh yeah, these two pixels could be the head, OH WAIT, THESE TWO ARE THE B**BS!! LOOK AT THOSE BIIIIG PIXELS!!" *lol*

If you complain about Win 10's telemetry and still use Google, Facebook or any other social media then you're quite the hypocrite.
