I wouldn't even say bad games, I would say bad decisions. The Star Wars series could have been 100x better, if they didn't do the whole lootbox and grind crap. Sims 4 is super fun, but pretty much every aspect of the game that makes it complete are behind pay walls that are just wayyyyy too much, and Anthem just kind of feels incomplete...
I was very disappointed by The Sims 4. I was shocked that they removed the open world of its predecessor, which removed the main appeal of the game for me (the exploration and immersion). I hated the loading screens so much that I restricted myself to my own lot most of the time (you couldn't even visit a neighbor without a loading screen). I only bought one expansion pack for it, quickly got bored with it, and never bought any more after that. I'm hoping that The Sims 5 (if there is one) reintroduces the open world again and carries on the legacy of TS3.

Putting aside MTs and major glitches shortly after the release date, most of EA's games lately are like the movie Avatar: not bad but nothing especially memorable or good; just better-than-average visuals and audio with a fun but un-inspiring gameplay or story. EA doesn't understand what makes a game sell well. They see trends and try to replicate them, not realizing that copying what everyone else (including themselves) have done doesn't mean you're making something people are currently looking for. Then, they basically shoot themselves in the foot by making their already expensive games pay-[extra]-to-win.
I think you have just summed up 90% of the gaming industry of today...

Nah there's plenty of great stuff out there. There's more to gaming than AAA titles from EA, Ubisoft, Activision/Blizzard, and now apparently Bethesda. Some publishers like WB, Rockstar, and Square Enix pull some of the same stuff as EA but they're not anywhere near as bad about it and they seem to be a bit more responsive to negative backlash.

EA sees BF5 not perform as they like. Low level employees get fired while top managers get a bonus. Where are the times of torches and pitchforks in the hands of us common folk...

It's in the game!
It's weird how they haven't update that tag line. I guess 'it's going to be in the game at some point in the future accorrding to our long term road map as a paid for DLC or random chance microtransaction lootbox' doesn't quite have the same catchy ring to it?

EA are Ghengis Khan reincarnated as a game publisher.

Every time that a company fails with its own products or with its own strategy (outsourcing included) the first ones to pay are the sellers and the people involved in marketing. No matter how big or small the company is...the trend is always the same. I seriously doubt that no one of all those directors was unaware of how much boring and repetitive Anthem was going to be. They have got a good idea...it could work...but they forgot what made Mass Effect so fascinating and beloved among the players...the storyline just as the interaction with the ME world characters...ME did offer time for everything: battles, research, rest times, good dialogues and love stories.

I wonder if this is in response to Apex's success whom had absolutely no marketing to speak off. I think the Marketing people sometimes oversell the products and cause huge strain for the developers.

To be fair the last time i bought an AAA title for the full price was Witcher 3. I enjoy indie games a lot so i usually wait for a price drop to buy AAA titles. Most of them are not worth the full price anyway. I was close to buy either the last BF or The Division 2 but then i tried the pre-release of The Division 2 and while it's okay it's certainly not worth 80$ CAD. Most people i played BF 1942 or BF 2 with tell me the last one while not bad is not worth it. So i'll keep buying indie games for 20 to 40$ CAD. Sorry EA and Ubi but they are as fun as your games and they cost between half to a quarter of what you ask.

K.S.:

Yessss! I completely agree with you about Star Wars not to mention the cancelled SW projects; many things were either over-monetized or just not given to good leadership to guide along the way to bring to fruition.
While that's true, my interest in Star Wars itself has waned significantly of late. I was really disappointed by The Last Jedi (and to some extent New New Hope... I mean The Force Awakens) and I have no idea where Disney is taking the series. I enjoy the spin-offs more than the main movies.

or this was done just so said heads of the company can keep there pay check the same. EA has been on my shit list for long time, I only bought SWTOR and DA:I cause of Bioware, and frankly I regret buy Swtor when first came out considering what EA turned it into and DA:I while is decent game and I like the Story, the gameplay of DA series has sucked since Origins. Those are the only "EA" game I got in long time, EA need to keep nose out of the developers business and how the game is and when it done. Sorta like Take two and Rock stars relationship. They dont make game often and they might take long periods of times to be done, but those game sell like hotcakes compared to most everything else including EA stuff

EA's Patrick Soderlund: “We stand up for the cause because I think those people who don’t understand it, well, you have two choices. Either accept it or don’t buy the game. I’m fine with either or." Gamers: "Got it! All-righty, then."

Honestly I don't remember the last time I bought an EA game, they're not getting a cent from me. When a company goes full SJW they sometimes ruin the product to the point that I wouldn't even pirate it. I.E, Mass Effect 3. Though they were absolute scum before the whole outrage culture stupidity became a thing.
