PPC : " Sadly, this is where "women equality" actually screwed us all, lol. Once women entered the workforce it basically doubled overnight and enabled said workforce to be paid half as much. A man was expected to provide for a family and thats how he had to be paid, for a family. This is another topic tho..." yes, truth is good, the truth equals +/- good but has to be accounted for

Absolutely accurate. I live in East Europe where we're (somewhat, EU pushes hard) sheltered. 10 yrs ago I would have relatively envied the West. Today, I am beyond happy to live in a sane country with sane social norms. Oh, and Blizzard can go to hell. But not because some dudes tried to score. But because they betrayed their initial target demographic and allowed the meritocratic sim that was WoW to become cr4p.

These things are always difficult to make moral judgements on. On one hand we have all the allegations, on the other we have Bill Cosby being cleared of those charges. Sure, a pic of Bill Cosby, or references to the name Cosby may offend some people who have decided he is guilty regardless of the law, but if we take this route with everyone accused of stuff then cleared by courts where does it end ? I'm sure forum members can think of many people accused of the most horrific crimes but never found guilty, but to take just one example; I still see people with Michael Jackson t-shirts on, people listening to Michael Jackson songs, mainstream media are still happy to have his image and music on their platforms. I would guess some companies even have the songs playing in their offices. There is a long list of child sex abuse allegations against him. What does this say about those people, should they be sacked too ? Should those companies face sexual harassment charges ?
Lets get realistic for a moment tho. They are not putting Cosby up for his comedy achievements but for the recent allegations of sexual assault. If you would play an MJ song at a workplace, a company party, full of grown people i'd say thats fine but if you would to walk creepily around a kindergarten while playing The Thriller i'd say that aint really in the greatest taste. Like displaying Hitlers picture in a museum is fine but bringing one to a synagogue kinda isnt. The context is everything and the context here is pretty bad.

At a place of business you are there to do a job, you can "score" at a club, beach, coffee shop, gym or wherever else you like, on your own time. Is being professional so much intruding on your delusion of being an "alpha male" who needs to "score" 24/7? Just install tinder man, problem solved. Today its easier to "score" than it ever was.

hahaha, it's a bit hard when that's the default thinking of today's modern person. Thank god I'm in Australia and that cancer is only in Melbourne.
Modern problems require modern solutions. ™

If the fine were at least ten times higher and made to directly affect the bonuses of the executives it might be actually useful. A fine of $18M is little more than CEO bonus.

Let's set some things straight. I don't use dating apps, never had, not even once. I am in a stable relationship for 10 yrs with a woman I love and nearly all my relationships were long. At the job, in Blizzard's case, was THEIR corporation. It was a corporation made by MEN, for MEN, that sexualized women avatars, for the male "gaze", which is all good and a natural reproductive instinct. We should promote healthy, sporty, fertile bodies for both women and men, not "diverse" bodies. There must be an ideal to strive for. Their place, their rules, and guess what? I met many of my partners at work. I courted them, politely, which I guess these days is harassment lmao. They accepted to go out with me. We went out, had a soda, ate something, discussed some more, and sometimes it ended up in a relationship. Nothing special, it's how the world works, people meet each other in various places, and they eventually reproduce.

Called it - out of court settlement. I absolutely KNEW this would never go to trial and these people were not bothered about anyone doing any time, but would be MORE than happy to take a pay-check. A sad day for anyone wishing to see a 'change' in this or, any other industry when people see those dollar signs and just, give up and roll over...a VERY sad day.

These accusations are not about change. They are pretty much always about money. If there is a publicly acknowledged "inequality" there will always be people trying to get money out of it. There is no point in discussing the right or wrong of their actions, they just want more money... as every greedy man or woman.

"Activision Blizzard will fight tooth and nail to avoid [a trial] as I would expect a jury (especially in California) to come down hard on the company," Voyer says. " A settlement is likely before it gets to that stage." And anyway, why do you expect the victims to be the heroes of all mankind? Instead of critisizing others from your chair, why don't YOU get off your asses and do something about it if you care so much? Yeah these people are just money grabbers, it was just harmless stuff like Friday, July 30: Vice publishes an article about Blizzard recruiters at a 2015 hacker conference harassing a security researcher who asked about a penetration testing (cybersecurity auditing) position. "One of them asked me when was the last time I was personally penetrated, if I liked being penetrated, and how often I got penetrated," she said. On the same day, Waypoint writes about an Activision Blizzard IT worker at the company's Minnesota office who installed spy cameras in the unisex bathroom. He pleaded guilty in 2018 to "interference with privacy." https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/activision-blizzard-lawsuit-controversy-timeline-explained/

Yes, most of them are.
So easy and so lazy to spew those kind of generalizations around. I guess you think it makes you feel better about your insecurities?

This was a lawsuit brought on by the state, not by individuals. It was always going to end in a fine/settlement. And it's just the first in a string of lawsuits against the company that have been filed by several entities. Some of those comments here though, Christ, you people make me sick.

I don't know about your or mine insecurities, but I'd guess you are the one less secure here, trying so eagerly to justify your cause on a hardware related forums. What I wrote is based on my long-term experience, nothing more. Take it, or in your case, leave it...
Oooh, please tell me about my cause. It sounds like, once again, your brain is making stuff up to suit a narrative that you would like to be true.

I got one better for you. How about not be an evil corporation that only cares about money, don't treat your employees like crap, pay a fair wage, don't discriminate and don't make them work crunch hours then you might not be sued.
Or just hire Agent 47 to take out Bobby Kotick. If it looks like an accident, it probably was right? Right? 😉

Idiots taking this like a Twitter spat better read what was actually going on, which was absolutely disgusting.

women are not men
You can't say that in 2021. Things are more.......fluid. You'd probably be arrested for saying that in California where it is against the law to use pronouns incorrectly.
