In the recently released Windows 11 Dev Channel (23506) preview build, a concealed function has been embedded by Microsoft, designed to exhibit information concerning the energy consumption of devices.

This capability augments the pre-existing battery consumption metrics within system settings, thereby facilitating power usage monitoring in desktop PCs, and other battery-less devices.

In devices with battery capacities, including laptops, the feature offers an exhaustive view of both energy and battery consumption. Energy usage data is categorized by each hour, permitting users to discern the applications which are most energy-intensive. The fresh segment within the settings displays the cumulative energy usage, with future plans to integrate an 'emission impact' statistic, despite this component being non-functional in the present preview build.

To activate this concealed feature in the preview model, users can employ the Vivetool. With the command "vivetool /enable /id:44663396,44663406" input into the folder where Vivetool files have been unpacked and a system reboot, visibility of energy consumption statistics is attained. This provides crucial perspectives for enhancing power usage efficiency on Windows 11 devices.
