Unconfirmed reports suggest that Nvidia may have postponed, even canceled the release of the Geforce RTX 4090 Ti. The reasons behind this decision are not clear, but the decision to suspend the AD102 chip brings into focus the demand and viability of such a high-end GPU.

The rumor comes from leaker "Kopite7kimi," who suggests that Nvidia may not have a compelling reason to launch the Geforce RTX 4090 Ti at the moment. The lack of competitive pressure in this market segment and the potential profit from focusing on workstation GPUs may be driving this decision. Initial reports indicated that the RTX 4090 Ti could feature 18,176 FP32 shaders, a 96 MiB L2 cache, and 24 GiBytes of memory running at 24 GT/s, with an estimated power consumption of around 600 watts.

Given the uncertainty around the RTX 4090 Ti, the focus may now shift towards Nvidia's mid-range cards. There are talks about the introduction of "low grade" AD103/AD106 models for the RTX 4070/4060 that could fill potential price gaps, potentially targeting the Chinese market.

Future speculation revolves around Nvidia's next-generation GPUs, referred to as "Ada-Next." Rumored configurations include a 512-bit wide memory interface with fast GDDR7 memory providing 2 TB/s bandwidth, roughly twice that of the current leading model. However, Nvidia's history of slow technology adoption raises questions about the actual deployment of GDDR7.
