An image of an Intel Meteor Lake-S LGA-1851 CPU engineering sample, a canceled SKU, has been disclosed. This desktop CPU is part of the now-discontinued Meteor Lake-S desktop platform.

Despite its discontinuation, certain engineering samples have made their way to the black market. The image, believed to be the first look at the LGA-1851 CPU socket planned for Intel's future desktop CPU series, was released by @wnxod.

The CPU, bearing the designation QDF4, is an early prototype that precedes the engineering sample (ES) stage. It may no longer be functional. HKEPC confirmed the CPU's status as one of the canceled Meteor Lake-S variants and also circulated the image. The chip integrates 6 Performance cores with 8 Efficient cores, in line with existing data, indicating this might be the peak configuration for the platform.

The CPU's use of the LGA-1851 socket is evident from its package size. It mirrors the LGA-1700 socket's size but has a distinct notch pattern. This detail was highlighted by @harukze5719, referencing socket design data from Igor’sLAB. Although this CPU model might never see commercial release, Intel's forthcoming Arrow Lake series in 2024 is expected to employ the LGA-1851 socket.
