MSI's forthcoming firmware update will include a "P-Core Beyond 6 GHz+" feature, which not only enables a single-core boost to 6.4 GHz but also sets the all-core boost frequency to 5.9 GHz. An alternative profile offering a 6.4 GHz single-core and 5.8 GHz all-core boost will also be available, catering to users with different cooling capacities and performance requirements. This adjustment is significant, given reports of the Core i9-14900KS consuming up to 400W under standard conditions.
The special-edition Intel Core i9-14900KS, part of the 14th Generation Raptor Lake Refresh lineup, is anticipated to be compatible with all existing LGA1700 motherboards equipped with either the 600- or 700-series chipsets, following minor firmware updates from motherboard manufacturers for optimal compatibility.
With rumors suggesting a release date around March 14, detailed reviews and analyses of the processor's capabilities are expected to emerge shortly thereafter. Not here at guru3D.com though, Intel did not sample us.
