A pretty slow news-day today, so time for a nice phat weekend update of some good hardware deals. After all the processor releases I figured now is a good time to focus at a couple of popular processors and some good motherboards to go along with them.

AMD processors:

• AMD Phenom II X3 710 Triple-Core Processor - this is probably my most favorite processor right now due to sheer performance and value. Next to that, some of you have been able to unlock the 4th core as well. Also, an overclock to 3600 MHz on air .. should not be an issue either. And it's selling for just $129.00 really amazing value there guys. Check out out review if in doubt.
• AMD Phenom II X4 940 Quad Core Processor - With the release of the new Phenom II X4 955 BE processor, the X4 940 dropped in price. Grab yourself a DDR2 AMD 790 based motherboard, and you have no idea what kind of performance you are looking at. Amazing value folks and it just dropped to $189.00 with free shipping and heck .. it is a Black Edition .. it overclocks to 3600 Mhz on just an air cooler really easily
• AMD Phenom X4 9950 Quad-Core Processor - Though I'm a fan of Phenom II more than Phenom I, this is among the cheapest of quad core processors you can purchase. Again a BE edition which clocks to roughly 3300 MHz. Heaps and heaps of value at $156.99

Recommended motherboard for any of these processors:

• ECS EliteGroup A790GXM-A, we reviewed this motherboard and it rocks, all processors above will run with it and this little gem of a motherboard sells for just $120.43 it's great value, as simple as that.

Intel Core 2 processors:

• Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200 Processor - Intel makes some excellent processors, this is their budget quad core. Clocked at 2.33 GHz is delivers a good punch, we spotted it at $164.99
• Intel Core 2 Quad Core Processor Q9400 - This is one of my more favorite Intel quad core processors, it's 45nm based, clocked at 2.66 GHz and overclock pretty well. $219.99 is you price.

Recommended motherboard for any of these processors:

• ASUS P5Q is an Intel P45 chipset-based motherboard - of course the sky is the limit for Core 2 motherboards really, this one is great, has excellent features and is priced at just $125.99

Intel Core i7 processors:

• Intel Core i7 920 Quad Core Processor - to date probably next to the Q6600 one of the most popular Quad Core processors ever released. This processor packs punch and can be overclocked real fast. The best price we could fins was $279.99, but remember .. Core i7 needs to be paired with an expensive X58 motherboard.
• Intel Core i7 940 Quad Core Processor - stepping it up in clock frequency the 940 is a brilliant processor. it's more pricy though at $544.99
• Intel Core i7 965 Quad Core Processor - nothing, seriously nothing at this very moment can beat this processor. It's powering up our primary graphics card test machine and  it's fast .. so incredibly fast. We even overclock it to 3.75 GHz easily, for fun. But high-end comes at a high price, as such $995.00 you will need to cough up for it.

Recommended motherboard for any of these processors:

• GigaByte GA-EX58-UD3R Motherboard - You know what, I'll list two X58 motherboards here, there new BIOS for the UD3R motherboard makes it now SLI compatible as well, and at $205.50  that's a might fine price ! Well .. for an X58 motherboard that is..
• Asus Rampage II Extreme Motherboard - This is the motherboard we use in our graphics card test system. It's so horribly good. Top of the line, very expensive. But prices did come down a tiny bit and it's now selling for $369.00 if you want the somethign among the highest ranking X58 motherboards ... this would be a match made in cyber-heaven.
