Texas Instruments shows four-port USB 3.0 chip

It is reported that Texas Instruments was demonstrating USB 3.0 products at last week's Intel Developer Forum. Among other things, it included a USB 3.0 to SATA bridge chip that can be used for external USB 3.0 drives, and also a four-way USB 3.0 hub chip, but unfortunately this part is still not certified.

The TUSB8040 USB3 hub  isn't certified yet, but from what we hear, it won't be all that long. Between this and the VIA hub controller, things will be better soon. We hope. USB3 hubs will be a good thing for everyone in the industry, and their absence is a sore spot for the standard, via semi accurate.
