A popular YouTube channel recently revealed exclusive images of the RTX 4070's packaging. Although no card was included, this does indicate that NVIDIA is considering introducing their design in conjunction with board partners.
NVIDIA does not currently provide a more powerful RTX 4070 TI model of their own design, the image above is said to validate the company's earlier ambitions for the RTX 4070 Founders Edition GPU. The absence of a card in the depicted box suggests that either the card was not yet available or that a design for a potential card's packaging was being finalized at the time of the depiction.
According to the information printed on the packaging, a 2x8pin to 1x16pin power adaptor is needed to power the card, and its width is 112mm. The Founders Edition GPUs are significantly narrower than the RTX 4080 at just 70mm. Assuming rumors are to be believed, the RTX 4070 utilizes a GPU with 5888 CUDA Cores manufactured by AMD and labelled AD104-250 or AD104-251. This model will have the same specifications as the RTX 4070 Ti, including 12 GB of GDDR6X memory and a 192-bit memory bus. NVIDIA was able to reduce the power need to between 200 and 250W by reducing the number of cores used.
According to the most up-to-date reports, mass production of the AD104-250 GPU will begin in the latter part of February.
