Top Gun: Maverick, the previously promised (and free) Microsoft Flight Simulator update, will not be available for purchase or download this year. That was originally scheduled to take place in November but has now been postponed until May of next year.
There is no connection between this postponement and the postponing of the Top Gun: Maverick picture of the same name from Paramount Pictures. The release of that movie has been delayed multiple times, and while it was originally scheduled to be released on November 19, it will now be released on May 27. Microsoft has already stated that the expansion will be released at the same time as the film, which means that the release of this update for Windows 10 and the Xbox Series X and S will be on May 27th.
Paramount Pictures recently shifted the release date of Top Gun: Maverick to Memorial Day weekend, May 27, 2022. As we have previously announced, the Top Gun: Maverick expansion for Microsoft Flight Simulator for Windows 10 PC, Steam, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox Game Pass will be released alongside the movie. We look forward to sharing more information in the future. The Top Gun DLC was revealed in mid-June. There are some brief pictures of an American aircraft carrier and an F/A-18E Super Hornet, which may be seen in the accompanying trailer, which also features other new footage. This fighter jet will, in any case, be included in the free update. Microsoft Flight Simulator can already be used to fly a fighter plane such as the Eurofighter Typhoon, although this feature is not included in the base game.
In related news; the World Update VI is scheduled to be issued on Tuesday. This free plugin provides a more detailed view of Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Three-dimensional models of specific cities and locales are created in great detail. The expansion will bring approximately one hundred new detailed sites of interest, and the Alps will appear much more detailed as a result of the enlargement.
