Microsoft Discontinues Xbox Live Gold Subscriptions, Introduces Xbox Game Pass Core

Microsoft has made public its plan to phase out Xbox Live Gold subscriptions, introducing the Xbox Game Pass Core as a substitute, effective from September 14.

The automatic transition will occur for all current subscribers, with a monthly fee set at $10. Due to the prevailing exchange rate, European subscribers will be charged 10 euros each month, aligning with the pricing for Game Pass on both PC and console platforms. The newly-introduced Xbox Game Pass Core subscription grants users access to online gameplay and offers an initial collection of 25 games, which Microsoft has coined as "a library of new games." Here are the listed games:

Microsoft has hinted at the inclusion of "deals and discounts" as part of the Game Pass Core subscription but has refrained from divulging specifics at this stage. However, it should be emphasized that games previously downloaded via Gold subscription will become inaccessible from September 1 unless they are part of the confirmed Game Pass Core roster. Xbox 360 titles are an exception to this rule, as their playability remains unaffected.
