Hail Hydra? Marvel puns aside, a new brand is today announcing their € 999 Hydra Desk and a PC Case. The Hydra Desk offers a modding experience as the tempered glass pane gives you a look at the powerful PC hardware within.
Hardware that would be ideally suited to custom water-cooling. Up to five 360 mm radiators and a 480 mm radiator can be installed to cool the hardware. As if that weren't enough, the case can hold two power supplies to power it all (Product page here).
The Hydra Desk Case at a Glance:
The NR-01 from Hydra offers huge flexibility. What this means is that the case is not only usable as a "classic" closed-style case, but also as an open-, vertical or horizontal bench table. The modularity of the Hydra NR-01 makes it a truly multi-functional platform for designers, modders and enthusiasts that want to present their hardware in their own way.
The Features of the Hydra NR-01 at a Glance:
Open Midi-Tower with Modular Construction & Water-Cooler Support
The Hydra NR-01 can be set in a horizontal or vertical orientation using the bundled stand-offs. The NR-01 looks great in both orientations and offers an unobstructed view of the installed hardware. The open Midi-Tower is also ideal for use as a benching table. The modular construction allows modders to customise the case to their exacting specifications. Anyone who would like to close the case can also use an optional plexiglass cover. Hydra does not use any rivets and welds the individual pieces as little as possible. Everything is screwed together. In terms of materials the case uses premium 1,5 mm thick aluminium. The maximum CPU cooler height is unlimited due to the open case. Gaming graphics cards up to 330 mm in length can be installed, ensuring that the Hydra NR-01 comes with sufficient space for powerful gaming hardware. In order for the hardware to receive the appropriate cooling, air- or water-cooling can be installed. Up to six 120 mm fans can be installed in a push-pull configuration. Alternatively, a powerful water-cooling setup with a large 360 mm radiator in the front can be used. A unique feature of this open Midi-Tower is the incorporation of the graphics card(s). With 8 PCI slots motherboards up to E-ATX are supported. The graphics cards can either be installed directly to the motherboard or mounted by means of a vertical mounting bracket. Two graphics cards can thus be mounted at a 90 degree angle.
An optical drive is also an option in the Hydra NR-01. Besides the two 2,5" and 3,5" drives a slim DVD drive can also be installed. In addition to the power button, two USB 3.0 ports are located on the I/O panel. Thanks to its modular construction, plenty of space behind the motherboard tray as well as their respective openings, perfect cable management is certainly possible.
This chassis is priced at 215 €. More info here.
