LG 32BQ85U-W 32" 4K UHD IPS Monitor: Technical Specifications and Features

The LG UltraFine series expands its portfolio with the LG 32BQ85U (also known as 32BQ85U-W due to its predominantly white rear). This 32″ 4K UHD model boasts an IPS Black panel, promising an enhanced contrast ratio compared to standard IPS offerings.

Design-wise, it adopts an unassuming aesthetic with a crescent-shaped silver stand base, cylindrical neck, and a matte black plastic bottom bezel. Dual-stage bezels characterize the top and sides, featuring a slim panel border flush with the screen, complemented by a thin hard plastic outer part. The monitor employs a downward-facing joystick in the center of the bottom bezel for OSD (On Screen Display) control.

This monitor incorporates a 31.5" 3840 x 2160 4K UHD LG Display IPS Black panel, likely the LM315WR6-SSA1 variant. It features a matte anti-glare screen surface and supports a 60Hz refresh rate. Unusually for this panel type, it provides a 2000:1 static contrast ratio - a step up from the standard 1000:1. The display supports Adaptive-Sync, making it compatible with Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) technologies like AMD FreeSync and Nvidia G-SYNC, operating within a 60 – 40Hz range. Other notable specifications include 178°/178° viewing angles and 10-bit (8-bit + FRC) color support.

For precise color calibration, the monitor can be paired with LG Calibration Studio software and a compatible colorimeter. This allows direct addressing of the monitor's Look-Up Table (LUT) and the loading of custom calibrated presets. The monitor's flicker-free WLED backlight offers a 98% DCI-P3 color gamut and a typical maximum luminance of 400 cd/m².

The LG 32BQ85U affords basic HDR10 support at the VESA DisplayHDR 400 level, allowing the use of 10-bit color processing and maximizing color gamut utilization. It does not, however, require high brightness or local dimming to enhance contrast according to HDR standards. The specified 5ms gray to gray response time comes with a cautionary note, as the monitor includes 'Dynamic Action Sync' (DAS), a built-in low input lag feature.
