Intel Skull Canyon NUC has Thunderbolt 3

Interl announced a new NUC based on Skull Canyon with  Thunderbolt 3. It features a 6th Generation Intel Core i7-6770HQ ‘Skylake’ quad-core processor with Iris Pro Graphics 580 and comes with a 45W Thermal Design Power (TDP) processor.



Intel claims that the new NUC “unleashes maximized performance for intense game play or intensive workloads” and will “let people edit photos and videos like a professional or immerse oneself in vividly rendered, seamless 3D gameplay, all in brilliant 4K resolution on three monitors at once.”

Intel NUC Skull Canyon Key Features:

One of the new features will be a 40 Gbps Thunderbolt 3 connector, you can connect 4K displays, high-speed memory and storage devices or external discrete graphics solutions. The embedded Iris Pro 580 is absed on Intel Gen9 GT4e graphics with 72 Execution Units and 128MB of stacked eDRAM.

The Intel NUC kit NUC6i7KYK has a $650 MSRP and will be available in April 2016 with shipping dates in May. You will need to insert DDR4L memory, a M.2 PCIe SSD and install an operating system. Intel recommends 16GB of memory, a 256GB SSD and Windows 10 getting you a mini box for just under a thousand bucks.
