Der8auer Direct-Die Waterblock Cools Ryzen 7000 CPUs by 25°C - The Thermal Grizzly AM5 Mycro Solution

The Thermal Grizzly AM5 Mycro Direct Die cooling block makes direct contact with the CPU and I/O dies, delivering superior cooling performance. When combined with a water cooling system, this cooling block significantly reduces processor temperatures.

German overclocking expert, Der8auer, has introduced an innovative cooling solution for AMD Ryzen 7000 series processors in a recent YouTube video. In the video, Der8auer also explores a heat spreader upgrade compatible with most CPU coolers. Testing the Ryzen 9 7900X using Cinebench R20, the overclocker achieved a 5 GHz overclock with a 1.3 V voltage. When paired with an all-in-one water cooler, the CPU's temperature reached 90°C. However, with the AM5 Mycro Direct Die cooling block after delidding, the temperature remained below 63°C.

To implement this cooling solution, users must delid their Ryzen 7000 series processors. While companies like Thermal Grizzly offer tools to safely carry out the delidding process, the manufacturer's warranty becomes void once the chip is delidded. The cooling block replaces the standard CPU holder and contacts both the CPU and motherboard, simplifying installation.

Available in two versions – ARGB and standard, the AM5 Mycro Direct Die cooling solution caters to different preferences. Non-illuminated version users can choose between a matte or striped finish for the cover plate. Both models are expected to become available in the coming weeks, with a retail price of $100 USD (excluding VAT) for the standard version and $130-$140 USD (excluding VAT) for the RGB variant.
