Dell Adds P2416D 24in WHQD monitor to its lineup

The P2416D sits in the proffesional range from Dell. The 2560 x 1440 (WQHD) model has its pixels crammed into a 23.8” screen. The monitor uses an AU Optronics (AUO) M238DAN01.0 AHVA (Advanced Hyper-Viewing Angle / IPS) panel. As mentioned previously this is 23.8” and features a 2560 x 1440 resolution, giving it a pixel density of 123.42 Pixels Per Inch.

Its AHVA panel (which is very similar to LG’s IPS technology) is expected to feature a very light matte screen surface and provide strong colour consistency. 178°/178° viewing angles are specified along with true 8-bit colour processing (no dithering) and a 1000:1 static contrast ratio. A WLED backlight is used with the Dell promising ‘up to 99% sRGB’ coverage. An 8ms typical grey to grey response time is specified (6ms in ‘Fast Mode’), which will seem high compared to some models but is really just a more realistic representation of the average response time to expect from the monitor.

Features of P2416D:

  • Vivid, vibrant colors with 99% sRGB color coverage
  • Consistent colors from virtually any angle
  • A full range of adjustability features, like pivot, swivel, tilt and height-adjustable stand, enhancing productivity and viewing flexibility
  • An impressive range of connectivity features including four USB 2.0 ports; VGA, DisplayPort 1.2, HDMI 1.4, ports making it compatible with both legacy and current PCs
  • Dell Easy Arrange feature allow users to easily organize and arrange applications on one screen

On the outside the monitor looks identical to the other 23.8” ‘P’ models mentioned above, and indeed it shares the same chassis. With that there are tactile (i.e. not touch sensitive) buttons running along the right bezel, towards the bottom. There is also a fully adjustable stand which gives the user good ergonomic flexibility – height, swivel, tilt and pivot.

The ports are down-firing, concealed beneath a removable plastic cover. These are; DP 1.2, HDMI 1.4, VGA and 4 USB 2.0 ports (one of these is actually outside the port cover area and features rapid charging). There are no integrated speakers or audio connections.

Pricing will be set at roughly 375 USD / 389 EURO which we think is pretty fair. P2416D comes with a 3 year limited hardware warranty preiod. P2416D comes with Dell’s Premium Panel Gearantee which provides free panel exchange even with one bright pixel (malfunctioning) is discovered.
