An engineering sample of the AMD Ryzen 5 9600X processor based on the Zen 5 architecture has been overclocked to a stable 5.70 GHz across all cores and subsequently tested using the CPU-Z Benchmark tool. At this overclocked frequency, the processor achieved a score of 871 points in the single-thread benchmark and 7096 points in the multi-threaded benchmark. These results are noteworthy for several reasons. The 5.70 GHz frequency matches the maximum boost frequency reported for the upcoming Ryzen 9 9950X, which is considered AMD's flagship processor in the same series. This demonstrates notable overclocking potential and performance capabilities of the Ryzen 5 9600X.

In terms of single-thread performance, the Ryzen 5 9600X's score of 871 points indicates a performance level on par with Intel's Raptor Cove P-core used in the Core i9-14900K processor. This comparison suggests that AMD's latest generation has effectively matched the single-thread performance of its competitor's recent offerings, which is critical for tasks that benefit from high per-core performance.
