AMD officially released its new Opteron 6000 "Magny Cours" processor series, which features world's first 8- and 12-core x86 processors for the high-volume 2P and value 4P server market. Pricing of the new Opteron chips can be found at AMD. The introduction of the much-anticipated platform has put AMD in the position to provide its costumers with a choice for 8 core and 12-core CPUs, designed to increase performance in both memory and compute intensive workloads.
