It's a lot of AMD news lately, today we add a sighting of AMD Vermeer. Vermeer is based on 7nm production at TSMC, called ZEN3.
Industry sources have shared data about the clock speeds of a rumoured Ryzen 9 4950X Vermeer. The processor would get 16 cores and thus 32 threads set up in SMT. The rumour is that this processor will feature a boost frequency of that reaches 4.8 GHz. The claim is based on an engineering sample so final frequencies are topic of discussion. The 16-core product would run (at this time) a base frequency of 3.5 GHz. Which is not and for so many processor cores.
How did this info resolve itself? Well, the leaked OPN code is "100-000000059-52_ 48/35 _ Y" and that would be the current Boost and base frequency. Other OPN codes already have been spotted a well, including "100-000000059-14_46/37_Y" and "100-000000059-15_46/37_N".
Exciting times, if the boost frequency remains that way and we see another IPC increase, then AMD might have gold in their hands. But until actually announced and released, everything remains speculation, of course.
