Bloody frickin hell ... 2000 MHz DDR3 memory with CL7 Timings (!), technology moves in such fast paces. We see new graphics processors like what ? each half year, CPUs increase in performance at an incremental rate and sure, ever since Core i7 was released, the race for high-frequency DDR3 memory started.

Within that race there are only a handful of competitors going at each others throat to offer the fastest memory in both frequency and latency. So where we had a race to the moon in the 70'ies .. we now have a race for the fastest memory. Okay, bad analogy I agree. But here's the thing. With Core i7 triple channel memory was introduced. Now if you purchased 1333 MHz DDR3 memory with CAS9 times, no worries .. that really is fast ! But that race among the memory manufacturers is driving the frquency of DDR3 memory upwards as they are battling for the performance crown at 1866 ~ 2000 MHz DDR3 memory. Names like Corsair, Patriot, Crucial are in that fight. And then of course there's OCZ technology, always striving for the best always addressing the high-end performance market in some sort of geeky way.

As such they are releasing the all new Blade series memory. To date this is the fastest memory kit I have ever seen in my test system, showing numbers that are breathtaking. With 64-bit operating systems in mind, the DDR3 kit we'll be testing today comes in a 6GB Triple channel (3x 2GB) flavor.

Now 2 GB DIMMs typically have an increased density creating more latency .. but get this, this kit is rated at an amazing 2000 MHz and does so at CAS 7 (!). Nearly nauseating when you think about it as half a year ago we figured that 1333 MHz DDR3 CAS9 memory was the norm. As such, and based on a SiSoft SANDRA test .. we'll actually pass 33 GB/sec of memory bandwidth today.

Wow .. just wow. So without further ado, let me show you the coolness that is labeled under OCZ's Blade series memory, have a peek at these dark mystifying modules as shown below, and then head on over to the next page where we'll startup this review.
