ASUS ROG Strix XG49VQ 144 Hz / FreeSynx 2 / HDR
A super wide 144 Hz gaming VA panel firing off 450 nits

In this review we will take a look at something really wide, the ASUS ROG Strix XG49VQ is a Hz VA panel based monitor at 3840x1080 with an HDR400 rating as well. This Ultra-Wide Screen 32:9 monitor can push 144Hz combined as is FreeSync 2 certified. That eliminates stutter and tearing while gaming in HDR. Way back last year, ASUS has already been teasing this product, 49 inches (124.46 cm) diagonal. The monitor will be a RoG Strix product loaded with multiple gaming-related functions. The curved panel is setup in a 32:9 ratio gets a maximum refresh rate of 144 Hz. The resolution of the screen is 3840 x 1080 pixels, and it has received FreeSync 2 certification as well as Vesa's DisplayHDR400 certification. The XG49VQ covers 125 percent of the sRGB color space. The monitor's ultra-high 144Hz maximum refresh rate should please many gamers. You will notice that the specs are close to identical towards the similar ACER EI491CR screen, Specifications include a contrast of 3000:1 and a brightness of 450 cd/m2. The color gamut coverage with close to 90% dci-p3 is pretty good.

The ASUS ROG SWIFT XG49VQ is a monitor that is agile, color precise, with good response times, is fast and yea, wide! The combination of HDR (albeit limited HDR400), resolution, refresh rate and FreeSync 2 make this a gaming monitor interesting for the gamer with a widescreen hunger.

Asus fabbed the XG49VQ in a tasteful design that comes with a panel capable of at 144Hz. This is an HDR10 compatible model. There's no local dimming or anything, it is using a more traditional WLED VA based display offering a peak brightness of 450 Nits, it offers a 125% sRGB color precise color gamut but also supports a DCI-P3 color (90%) space similar to what Hollywood uses in movies. A monitor offering image quality, connectivity, and features, lots of features that appeal to any PC gamer. Connections include display port 1.2, HDMI 2.0 and 2x HDMI 1.4. Two 5 watt speakers are integrated for stereo sound. Furthermore, for its gamer target market there is; Asus Shadow Boost, Asus, GamePlus Hotkeys, Asus GameVisual modes, Asus GameFast input tech, as well as Low Blue Light and Flicker-free tech. Ready for the review, let's have a peek.
