X58 SLI compatibility Warning

by Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 01/15/2009 10:32 AM | source: | 0 comment(s)

Guru3D.com ImageGuys, if you are in the market for an X58 motherboard, as stated in our article, make sure that IF you want to go SLI now or in the future, that your motherboard actually is SLI certified.

I can't warn and stress this enough.

A good example here is this guy in our forums who purchased a Gigabyte GA-EX58-DS4 motherboard, as it turns out .. these board do not support SLI apparently, despite being tagged as SLI certified on the NVIDIA SLI zone (that's horribly fucked up really).

So if you have SLI in mind, read the specs and double-check. Or base your purchase of a review, but don't buy an X58 motherboard blind without verifying it's SLI compatible or not, unless you are certain that it is.
