UK provider launches product page for Razer smartphone with 120Hz screen

UK provider launches product page for Razer smartphone with 120Hz screen

UK provider Three has been showing a product page of an upcoming Razer smartphone. The page is listing the phone with a 120Hz refresh rate, all other smartphones have a 60Hz screen.

The screen would be based on a 120 Hz 5,72"-igzo-lcd mentions android police, it is indicated that it'll have a 1440p resolution:

It'll sport a 120Hz 5.72" IGZO display, as well as 8GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, a giant 4000mAh battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 4.0+, and THX-certified dual front-facing speakers with Dolby ATMOS. The dual camera setup out back consists of a 12MP f/1.75 wide-angle sensor and a 13MP f/2.6 zoom unit. There's also something called "4G Super-Voice" listed, which appears to be some sort of tech that prevents dead zones.

It looks like the phone will run a stock-ish version of Android, given the clean-looking lock screen. Several specs aren't listed here (and the 'Specifications' tab contains nothing), but we did come across a GFXBench page from a few weeks ago that says the Razer Phone will have a 1440p display, a Snapdragon 835, a 7MP front-facing camera, and Android 7.1.1 Nougat. Given how the rest of the specs listed there match up with those that 3G UK did provide, the authenticity isn't questionable. The Nextbit Robin-inspired design matches up with the TechByte leaked image we saw initially, complete with sharp corners and small circular buttons.

Razer is expected to have its "biggest unveiling" on November 1st.

Yeah... shame all major media content is up to 60 fps.
Gaming on smartphone with higher refresh rates is ... weird. There no really that much action packed mobile games (beside something like Osu).
Most are slow paced, turn based games.

At least I give them props for trying something new. But yeah, 120hz for media consumption is just a waste.

There is a lot of action game or racing game now, but i agree 120hz on a such tiny screen... is a bit a waste.

Also Razer do great product but that doesn't last long.

But..but imagine smothness of "operating system", all those sliding effects in 120Hz o man o man, and not to mention scrolling pages ohhh yes.. :)

P.S.(Did i mention recording videos in 120fps@1080p?)
P.P.S(Maybe even 120fps @1440p :p)
Recording videos in 120FPS has nothing to do with 120Hz screen. Sony Experia and others can record 120FPS videos for a long time now. And the major content out there is up to 60FPS which looks better on 60Hz than on 120Hz.

P.S. I don't think anyone could distinguish 60FPS from 120FPS on a phone 5" screen

O man i like those discussions so you are saying if i record 120fps on 60hz screen and i play it @120fps i will not see half of frames or yes i can see them all if i watch it @0.5speed :p and imagine that if i whatch that same 120fps video on 120Hz i can watch it 1:1 in 1x speed eh..?

You made my day... :D

120 Hz is probably aimed at some kind of VR, providing 60 FPS to each eye.
