The wireless-charging Dell Latitude 7000 Laptop

I've been wondering myself about it. Wireless charging on my smart-phone is something I would not like to miss. But why isn't that technology advancing more widespread? Wireless mouse charging is slowly getting there but what about tablets and perhaps even laptops. Well, Dell is unveiling more details on a new lineup of Latitude 2-in-1s dwith just that.

The Windows-based 2-in-1 category is thriving as companies abandon tablets in the office and place more value on the productivity and flexibility offered by 2-in-1 PCs. Dell Latitude 2-in-1s take it to the next level by offering industry-leading security, manageability and service features that enterprise customers truly care about, including the latest 7th Gen Intel® Core™ vPro™ processors, world-class security via multi-factor authentication, encryption and malware protection, full device serviceability and mobile broadband options.

Dell said that the Latitude 7285 12-inch is available for sale on its website starting at $1,199.99, and the Wireless Charging Keyboard and Wireless Charging Mat will run you $549.99. (You save $29.99 if you buy them together versus separately.) The 12-inch 2-in-1’s $1,199.99 option has a Intel Core i5-7Y54 with 128GB SSD and 8GB of memory.

Well, $550 to charge your laptop in a slightly different way for one.

Long time ago friend had wireless mouse which was very light, because it had no battery.
It was powered by induction coming from mouse pad.
But that mouse pad was not very large, and mouse was not very good.

I am used to charge everything by cables. To consider wireless charging practical, It would have to work at least 80cm from charging source. But then I would dislike this EM field.

And since wireless charging requires quite close placement, I think charging place for notebook is not very different fro having docking station with power delivery. And for that reason I consider regular cable plug as more variable in location of notebook, and easier to handle.

Regarding your mouse you mentioned there, I vaguely remember that one. But a mouse has been announced recently (Razor maybe) that uses wireless charging on a mouse mat but also has a battery and bluetooth.

Not mouse of mine. I had Saitek's mouse back then.
