Synology RackStation RS814+ and RS814RP+ NAS

Synology today announced RS814+ and RS814RP+, a scalable 1U 4-bay rackmount NAS server offering high-performance, expandable, and full-featured network attached storage solutions for small and medium-sized business. "The need for more powerful processing power surges as data usage grows exponentially. The RS814+/RS814RP+ is designed to address such needs, and is also optimized for business environments by providing the performance, reliability, and scalability at an affordable cost," said Michael Wang, product manager at Synology Inc.

Powered by a 2.13 GHz dual-core processor, 2 GB DDR3 RAM and four gigabit LANs with Link Aggregation enabled, the RS814+/RS814RP+ brings forth over 330 MB/s reading and 196 MB/s writing under RAID 5 configuration in a Windows environment. Businesses can further upgrade system RAM to 4 GB in tandem with their expanding workloads and grow the total storage space up to 32 TB by pairing it with an expansion unit RX410.

The RS814+/RS814RP+ is equipped with a comprehensive set of reliable mechanisms to ensure continuous system uptime during unexpected events. Four LAN ports with failover support provide redundancy in the event of unexpected network failure while hot swappable drives also help to minimize system downtime during drive replacement. The redundant power supplies in RS814RP+ further guarantee uninterrupted service when power failure strikes.

The RS814+/RS814RP+ runs on DiskStation Manager (DSM) 4.3, an intuitive operating system that provides a host of applications to bring better productivity at work. Synology was voted as "PCMag Business Choice Award 2013 winner" and received the highest rating in every element of the survey, including reliability, overall satisfaction, value, and likelihood to recommend.
