Sony sold 3.4 million units of PlayStation 5 in its first 4 weeks
Sony sold 3.4 million PlayStation 5s in the first four weeks since the console was launched. Probably the highest numbers that are seen in the history of the PlayStation.
Sony is reportedly planning to ship between 16.8 and 18 million PlayStation 5s throughout 2021. In addition, in January the Japanese company will reserve a larger number of units for the Asian market. Assuming the trend between Sony and Microsoft continued, the Xbox Series X / S would have sold just over 2 million units . It seems to fall behind the 3.4 million PlayStation 5, but the reality is that both are selling really well, the only limitation being the stock . Sony seems to have started production earlier or even to have reserved a greater number of AMD chips than Microsoft.

Seems a bit unprobable.
Most ps5 were preordered online on official sources.
And over half of those sales were from scalpers selling them for double or even triple the price of MSRP. Just like with Nvidia and AMD GPU's.

I can't prove it, but I doubt it highly. Everyone who wanted to buy one of the following items listed above got fucked over.

Most things had a really crap year but 2020 was fantastic for gaming (and for just about anything you can do from home).
Not so great for the end user trying to get their grubby mitts on one of the hot new tech items, but overall, the growth this year has been phenomenal.
PS - miners are still the scum of the PC community. Bugger off.

Your comment relates to where consoles were bought, not who was buying them. It's a known fact that many were mass pre-ordered and bought by scalpers using bots to flood the online ordering systems.
