Sony Purchases OnLive and then kills it
Sony has purchased OnLive, one of the more popular online game streaming services. With the buyout Sony now holds all its patents. However this was a strategic move, OnLive services will cease to exist after April 30 2015.
OnLine will no longer collect subscription money and its customers can use the service up-tp April 30. This includes OnLive Game Service, OnLive Desktop and SecondLife on the Go.
It is unclear what will happen with the 80 employees. Sony probably will use parts of the technology and infrastructure of OnLive for its own PlayStation Now service. Earlier Sony already bought and killed Gaika.

That's what they call a hostile takeover.

They'll be using it for their streaming services no doubt. The current PS4 remote play work's surprisingly well and I expect them to continue it.

It was already dead, Sony has purchased 140 or so of the OnLive patents, not the company itself as far as I can tell.
